  • Orgreave: Common Gull - 27 - North at 10:15. Highest count at this site
  • Orgreave Lakes: Common Gull - 27 - High north ; Sand Martin - 25 - 25 max over water at any one time. ; Swallow - 5 - 5 max over water at any one time. ; Blackcap - 1 - Singing male
  • Oughtibridge garden: Brambling - 3 ; Siskin - 3 ; Lesser Redpoll - 4
  • Peat Pits: Golden Plover - 200+ - impossible to count in crop field
  • R Don, Penistone Rd: Sand Martin - 2 - Over river
  • R Don, Rutland Rd: Sand Martin - 14 - in and out of stonework at back of Cutlery Works
  • Redmires Top Res: Oystercatcher - 2+ - 2 and possibly 4 birds
  • Rocher Head Fieds: Wheatear - 4 ; Ring Ouzel - 1 ; Fieldfare - 10 - feeding in field
  • Rockingham Wood: Robin - 2+ - sing ; Long-tailed Tit - 1+ ; Chiffchaff - 1 - sing ; Blackcap - 1 - sing
  • Sheffield airport: Wheatear - 6 ; Lapwing - 6 - 3 pairs
  • Sheffield Parkway; Handsworth: Common Buzzard - 2 - soaring over @ 1050hrs
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Redshank - 1 - SE at 09.25, calling ; Willow Warbler - 4 - singing ; Chiffchaff - 6 - singing ; Blackcap - 2 - singing ; Yellowhammer - 1 - singing ; Meadow Pipit - 6 ; Linnet - c.15 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Snipe - 1 ; Jay - 7
  • Silverwood Pit Top: Skylark - 3 - Singing. ; Meadow Pipit - 9 ; Mute Swan - 2 ; Greylag Goose - 1 - Flying in onto lagoon, determined to stay but persistently chased by Swans, female coming off nest at one time, finally taking refuge on land and then leaving north. ; 319 - 2 ; Kestrel - 2 ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 - On Alders ; Magpie - 8 ; Reed Bunting - 6 ; Little Grebe - 4 ; Tufted Duck - 12 ; Mallard - 4 ; Chiffchaff - 4 ; Pheasant - 8 ; Red-legged Partridge - 4 ; Blackbird - 5 ; Gadwall - 4
  • Sothall: Collared Dove - 1 - juv in garden
  • Stanage Edge: Ring Ouzel - c20 - Seen along the whole length of the edge. Mostly males, some chasing other males perhaps trying to establish territories, some singing, plus group of 6 individuals flying in flock which landed on rocks. ; Kestrel - 1 - hunting ; Snipe - 1+ - Heard drumming and chipping in rushy/tussock grass pasture below the edge. ; Golden Plover - 1+ - Heard only, on moors above edge. ; Lapwing - 2 - Displaying over grouse moor. ; Curlew - c6 - Flying and calling from moors and overhead. ; Raven - 6 - Group flew east over Standage Pole ; Merlin - 1 - Female, dashing along the base of Stanage Edge. ; Red Grouse - 10+ ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - Singing from copse below the edge. ; Robin - 1 ; Wren - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - c20 - many displaying ; Skylark - c2 - heard singing over moors ; Carrion Crow - 4 ; Pheasant - 1 - male in pasture below edge
  • Thrybergh CP: Great Crested Grebe - 6 ; Mute Swan - 31 ; Tufted Duck - 30 ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 2 - singles ; Redshank - 1 - flew thro call (not seen) ; Black-headed Gull - 200+ ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - east ; Skylark - 5 - singing ; Sand Martin - 150+ ; Swallow - 1+ ; House Martin - 5+ ; Meadow Pipit - 4 ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing ; Redwing - 6 - flew east with Fieldfares ; Fieldfare - 46 - 6 east & 40 north ; Blackcap - 2 - singing ; Chiffchaff - 7 - singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 4 - 2pr ; Jay - 1 - north ; Chaffinch - 10 ; Linnet - 2 ; Brambling - 5 - 1 at f/stat 4 in drive ; Bullfinch - 4 - 2pr ; Reed Bunting - 7 ; Yellowhammer - 1 - singing
