  • Ulley Res: Chiffchaff - 3 - Singing along path. ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Blackcap - 1 - Male. ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Woodpigeon - 2 - On nests in close proximity. ; Carrion Crow - 1 - On nest in same woodland as WP. ; Swallow - 1 - Low over water.
  • Upper Burbage Bridge: Red Grouse - 1 ; Curlew - 1
  • Wadsley Common garden: Brambling - 8 - Feeding on ground seed including 3 males.
  • Waverley: Golden Plover - 77
  • Whiteley Woods: Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - 1 ; Jay - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Dipper - 1 - flew upstream
  • Wire Mill Dam: Mandarin - 7 - M&F

Saturday 13th April 2019

  • Agden Rocher: Golden Plover - 300+ - in fields above crags, mainly 'Northern' birds
  • Barbrook Plantation: Willow Warbler - 3 - 1 pair and another singing male
  • Bramley: 319 - 1 - Low over village mobbed by a Herring Gull and BH Gull both gulls calling. ; Song Thrush - 1 - On lawn early morning. ; Greenfinch - 1 - Male on feeder.
  • Broomhead Res: Crossbill - 2
  • Canyards: Stonechat - 1 - Male
  • Endcliffe Park: Chaffinch - 7 - singing ; Wren - 6 - singing ; Nuthatch - 6 - 5 singing, 1 wittering ; Coot - 2 - pair with nest ; Mandarin - 2 - pair on lower pond ; Mandarin - 2 - another photo ; Feral Pigeon - 2 - one dipping down on pond in flight to sip water
  • Firsby Res: Coot - 2 ; Pied Wagtail - 2 - Pair ; Kestrel - 1 ; Fieldfare - 2 - On ground in sheep field. ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Tree Sparrow - 3+ ; Linnet - 2 - Feeding on dam wall. ; Bullfinch - 6+ ; Goldfinch - 5 ; Willow Tit - 1 - Calling along stream. ; Chiffchaff - 3 - Singing. ; Willow Warbler - 4 - All singing. ; Treecreeper - 1 ; Red-legged Partridge - 2 ; Pheasant - 1 - Crowing Male.

  • Manor Fields Park: Water Rail - 2 - 2 calling from reedbed 06:30-07:15 with 1 seen briefly at 07:45. ; Reed Bunting - 1 - Singing from top of reeds 07:10-07:45 ; Moorhen - 7 - 4 adults 3 young. ; Blackcap - 5 - 5 singing males.06:15-08:00 ; Chiffchaff - 3 ; Linnet - 10 ; Song Thrush - 4+ - at least 2 pair
  • Moscar Cross: Crossbill - 2 - pair, imm male singing
  • New Hall Wood, Stocksbridge: Blackcap - 1 - singing ; Song Thrush - 5 - singing ; Blackbird - 6 - singing ; Nuthatch - 1 - singing
  • Norfolk Park: Common Buzzard - 1 - in trees just off main path from Granville Road entrance appeared to have roosted overnight
  • Onesmoor bottom: Little Owl - 1 - sat on grass verge at dusk .
  • Orgreave Lakes: Ringed Plover - 1 ; Green Sandpiper - 3 - on island, still present at 09.20.
  • Redmires Top Res: Common Sandpiper - one - First this year for Redmires. Edge of water roadside. ; Woodcock - 2 - Flushed from roadside scrub near metal gate.
  • Rocher Head Fields: Ring Ouzel - 6 - in sheep fields ; Wheatear - 2
  • RVCP, Main Lake: Yellow Wagtail - 1 - male ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - male White Wagtail
  • Stanage Edge, below: Ring Ouzel - 3 - Males (record shot) ; Wheatear - 2 ; Snipe - 5+ - At least 5 including several birds chipping and one drumming display. ; Raven - 2 - over ; Stonechat - 1 ; Red Grouse - 2 ; Lapwing - 2
  • Thrybergh CP: Brambling - 4 - at f/stat
  • Ughill Moors: Oystercatcher - 2
  • Waverley: Golden Plover - 83 - Most in full summer-plumage ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 ; Lapwing - 8 - 4 Pairs
  • Waverley AMRC: Ringed Plover - 2 - Pair

Friday 12th April 2019

  • Aldwarke: Greylag Goose - 2 - NE @ 0628hrs ; Mute Swan - 70 - all SW to canal basin between 0628-0830hrs, in 6 flocks, largest 29.
  • Aldwarke; Liberty Steel: Peregrine - 1pr - f on chimney briefly tearing up prey before both birds flying around together. Female disappeared, m then sat on chimney/pylons.
  • Charlton Brook, Chapeltown: Brambling - 11+ - along length of brook, 9+ singing
  • Ecclesfield Park: Brambling - Several - Still in hawthorns in field next to playground, 'wheezing' and calling.
  • Elsecar Res: Shoveler - 2 - 1 pair ; Great Crested Grebe - 10 - Several pairs displaying ; 320 - 4 - 2 pairs ; Mallard - 30+ - 1 female with 18 chicks
  • Green Moor: Brambling - 6+ ; Tree Sparrow - 10+
