• Firsby Res: Water Rail - 1 - Heard only sharming in reedbed main res. ; Goldcrest - 2 ; 319 - 1 ; Lapwing - 2+ - Calling and displaying over adjacent fields after dusk. ; Long-tailed Tit - 12c ; Song Thrush - 3 - Singing. ; Barn Owl - 1 - Successfully hunting at dusk. ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - Sluice. ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - Along stream. ; 319 - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - Alarm calling in woodland. ; Song Thrush - 1 - Singing. ; Fieldfare - 4 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Pair seen chasing near last years nest site. ; Magpie - 6 ; Rook - 2 ; Meadow Pipit - 1 - Over calling. ; Skylark - 10+ - Lots of singing and displaying. ; Yellowhammer - 8+ ; Linnet - 6+ ; Chaffinch - 10+ - Males in song and pair together on hedgerow. ; Stock Dove - 2 ; Bullfinch - 4
• Fulwood garden: Siskin - 2 - Pair at feeders ; Bullfinch - 2 - Pair at feeders ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Soaring ; Starling - 8 - Several singing, including one with very convincing mimic of Oystercather ; 324 - 1 - Peacock butterfly sunning itself on south-facing wall
• Grange Park Golf Course: Grey Heron - 1 - pond @ Upper Kennel Wood ; Mallard - 1 - male ; Kestrel - 1 - male ; Woodcock - 1 - Over tree tops of Brick Kiln extension @10:30. ; Stock Dove - 3 - singing ; Woodpigeon - 30+ ; Black-headed Gull - c80 - Most gathered on practice range,may have been following tractor scarifying field adj Watson's tip. ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2+ - at least 2 drumming. ; Wren - 3 - singing ; Dunnock - 3 - singing ; Robin - 13+ - singing ; Blackbird - 5+ - inc 1 singing(quiet song) from tree top in Brick Kiln ext'. ; Song Thrush - 2+ - singing ; Mistle Thrush - 1+ - 1 singing from Walkworth Wood. ; Goldcrest - 1 - singing ; Treecreeper - 3 - singing ; Nuthatch - 2+ - inc 2 coming to suet pellets placed on old fence post in Brick Kiln Pltn, along with several Blue tits. ; Jay - 1 ; Magpie - 5+ ; Chaffinch - 4 - singing ; Greenfinch - 1 - singing ; Linnet - 2 ; Bullfinch - 1+
• Green Moor: Siskin - 3+ ; Tree Sparrow - 8 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Male ; Bullfinch - 1 ; Nuthatch - 1 ; Yellowhammer - 1
• Hangingwater garden: Sparrowhawk - 1 - f. sat for 15-20 minutes after hitting window
• Heeley: Sparrowhawk - 1 - over
• High Bradfield: Jackdaw - c10 - around Church Farm farmyard, including one entering hole in wall, presumably it's nest site.
• Hollow Meadows: Stock Dove - 3
• Kirk Edge; Delph rd: Skylark - c16 - some feeding in arable field, some singing ; Chaffinch - 3+ - feeding in arable field
• Lady Canning*s Plantation: Crossbill - 40-50 - Heading west through the canopy, a lot of singing going on. Seemed more intent on travel than feeding. Most seen flying off to the north. Further calls from the south just after this sighting.
• Lodge Moor: Brambling - 1 - resplendent male, on feeders, in company of usual chaffinches. ; Tree Sparrow - 1 - Never seen before in garden ; Siskin - 2 pairs - regulars at feeders in recent weeks ; Long-tailed Tit - 1
• Loxley Chase: Curlew - 3 - in fields
• Loxley Common: Yellowhammer - 4+ - 2 singing males ; Bullfinch - 2
• Malin Bridge: Redwing - 1 - nocmig 01:14, few and far between recently ; Tawny Owl - 1 - nocmig: male calling 22:45 ; Moorhen - 1+ - nocmig calling 22:45 and 23:05
• Millhouses garden: Collared Dove - 2 - from being a daily visitor now very infrequent ; Bullfinch - 2 - a pair
• Morehall tip / R.Don: Goosander - 2 - pair on river. ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - pair on river. ; 319 - 5 ; Woodcock - 2 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - male displaying over tip.
• Nether Haugh; Clay Hill: Linnet - c50 - on set-aside/game cover ; Chaffinch - c15 - with LI flock
• New Stubbin colliery/tip: Bullfinch - 1 ; Yellowhammer - 4 - singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 2 ; Coal Tit - 1 ; Redwing - 3 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - female, left 'traditional' nesting woodland ; Chaffinch - 3 - one singing
