Rawmarsh; High Street: Common Buzzard - 2 - soaring over, then W @ 1335hrs

Redmires Res: Greylag Goose - 3 ; Mallard - 55 - c55 ; 320 - 4 ; Tufted Duck - 3 - on Top Res ; Shelduck - 1 - on Top Res - scarce here these days, particularly in winter ; Goosander - 1 - pristine male on Top Res - arrived from the south at 08:50 hrs ; Lapwing - 40 - on Middle Res ; Curlew - 1 - regular wintering bird flew east calling at 08:22. Later seen in fields along Soughley Lane ; Crossbill - 1 - male singing by Top Res ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing male ; Linnet - 1 - over Middle Res - scarce here in January! ; Black-headed Gull - 65 - c. roosted on the Top Reservoir ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Greylag Goose - 72

Silver Wood/Old Ravenfield: Skylark - 5 - in fields either side of track to Pingle Lane Tip (one singing) ; Nuthatch - 3 ; Jay - 2

Silverwood Lagoon: Little Grebe - 1 ; Water Rail - 1 - heard ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing in Hollings Lane sidings at dawn ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Yellowhammer - 1 ; Common Buzzard - 2

Bingham Park: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - drumming

Brightside: Ring-necked Parakeet - 85-89 - counted as they arrived between 16:25 and 16:50

Canklow Woods: Stonechat - 1 - male still present field below Boston Castle

Endcliffe Park: Kingfisher - 1 - Fishing on lower pond ; Kingfisher - 1 - Fishing on upper pond at 16:10. Most likely different bird to that seen 5 minutes earlier on lower pond.

Handsworth: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Female swooped over feeding birds but did not catch anything

Handsworth Garden: Mistle Thrush - 2 - In large hawthorn but not coming down for food
