  • Gillfield Wood: Raven - 2 - over western end. Assumed same as Totley Bents
  • Graves Park: Goosander - 1 - On Boating Lake ; Little Grebe - 2 ; Herring Gull - 1 ; Canada Goose - 9 - On middle pond ; Mandarin - 2 - Pair ; Ring-necked Parakeet - 1+ ; Tufted Duck - 10+
  • Green Moor: 319 - 2 - pair copulating in tree on edge of Green Moor Delf
  • Highfield: Swan sp - c115 - large swan flock (presumably Whoopers) seen at distance heading approximately NW at 08:03.
  • Langsett Res: Oystercatcher - 8 ; Curlew - 3
  • Low Common: Pied Wagtail - 1 - in stubble field
  • Low Harley: Swallow - 1 - singing on telegraph lines
  • Low Moor, Upper Midhope: Oystercatcher - 3 - incl pair copulating ; Snipe - 1+ - Only one seen displaying but others heard chipping ; Stock Dove - 1 - Display flight ; Curlew - 5 - incl pair copulating ; Siskin - 3+ ; Redwing - 1+ ; Fieldfare - 4 ; Skylark - 1 - singing ; Whooper Swan - c233 - c122 NW at 8.20 + c111 NW at 9am ; Whooper Swan - c233 - Another pic
  • Meersbrook Park: Mistle Thrush - 4
  • Middle Common: Reed Bunting - 9 - feeding in cover crop between defunct hedge and Cinder Hills
  • Middleton Moor: Wigeon - 1 - Male ; Oystercatcher - 2 ; Shelduck - 3 ; Greylag Goose - 7 ; 320 - 26 ; Curlew - 104 - roosted. inc two colour ringed birds, one of which was seen previously there in June 2020, ringed in Jan 2016 at Rumney Wharf, Newport. South Wales. ; Golden Plover - 9 - roosted ; Red Kite - 1 - flew over hide in evening. ; Common Gull - 191 - most left initially E, but some did roost. ; Goosander - 3 - roosted ; Snipe - 5+ - dusk ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c60 - roosted
  • Midhope Hall Lane: Barn Owl - 2
  • Nether Edge: Tawny Owl - 2 - inc 1 visible on Bank Close at 14:00
  • Orgreave Lakes: Willow Warbler - 1 - Singing at the top of the big hill ; Wheatear - 6 - Northern plains, 4m 2f
  • Overstones Farm: Lapwing - 2 - Observer has been coming here 20yrs. A herd of 24+Cows & calves of Belted Galloway cattle are now in the field. NO curlews calling or lapwings displaying ! The nesting habitat has been destroyed.
  • Rawmarsh: Greylag Goose - 3 - NE together @ 0930hrs ; Blackbird - 1 - female; carrying food, presumably to nest in an adjacent garden, Rockcliffe Road
  • Redmires Middle Res: Oystercatcher - 4
  • Redmires Top Res: Little Grebe - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 2 - 1m, 1f
  • Rivelin Dams: Whooper Swan - c150 - Heading NW. at 08:55
  • RVCP: Shelduck - 1 - Flew N @ 07-45 ; Whooper Swan - 9 + 42 ; Fieldfare - 41 ; Oystercatcher - 5 ; Sand Martin - 50+ ; House Martin - 2 ; Swallow - 4
  • Strines Res: Oystercatcher - 4 ; Whooper Swan - c20 - in flight to NW, heading NW, towards Upper Derwent c13:30, possibly the Derwent Res birds leaving.
  • Thrybergh CP: Mute Swan - 26 ; Whooper Swan - 74 - 24 north 08:25; c50 north 10:38 ; Tufted Duck - 28 ; Sand Martin - 250+ ; Swallow - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 5 ; Oystercatcher - 4 ; Lapwing - 2 ; Pied Wagtail - 8 ; Grey Wagtail - 2
  • Totley Bents: Raven - 2 - over Bole Hill and Totley Rifle Range ; Kestrel - 1 - calling by the Cricket Inn
  • Totley Open Space: Dunnock - 1 - nest-building in brambles
  • Tyzack*s Dam: Kingfisher - 1 - My first here since January 2021.
  • Ulley Brook Bog: Sparrowhawk - 1 - From treeline circling to a great height 13.50 ; 319 - 1 - Circling then in tree. ; Chiffchaff - 3 - 2 singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 2
  • Ulley Res: Kestrel - 1
  • Ulley Res, NE arm: Lesser Redpoll - 4 ; Chaffinch - 2 - 1 singing both males. ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - Pair 1 with nesting material and calling.
  • Upper Whiston: Red Kite - 2 - From field to trees off Guithwaite Common Lane 13.20 ; Lapwing - 2 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Skylark - 2 - Singing
  • Wentworth Lakes: Stock Dove - 2 - pair? feeding in field N of Dog Kennel

Sunday 26th March 2023

  • Aldwarke; Liberty Steels: Raven - 1 - on roof of melting shop briefly, mobbed by crows @ 0945hrs. Disappeared over complex. ; Stock Dove - 2+ - 2 on floodlight + others flying around ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing
