  • Brinsworth: Sparrowhawk - 1 - made 2 unsuccessful attempts to predate a male Blackbird. 07.45
  • Canklow Woods: Chiffchaff - 1 - 1 singing
  • Catcliffe: Common Buzzard - 2 - 2 in the air over parkway

  • Forge Dam: Mandarin - 2 - m+f
  • Fulwood: Waxwing - 22 - flock flycatching above observer's garden on Crimicar Drive 12:45 then headed off NW ; Brambling - 11 - at feeders in observer's garden ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - circling over Crimicar Drive
  • Greave*s Piece: Great Grey Shrike - 1 - Showing well 9:30~10:00
  • Green Moor: Common Buzzard - 5 - Soaring together
  • Greystones: Waxwing - 55 - 07:00 Top of the garden's Sycamore tree and dropping down to feed on Cotoneaster berries once again.
  • Greystones garden: Blackcap - 1 - Male ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Bullfinch - 2 - Male & female
  • Holmebrook Valley Park: Whooper Swan - 2 - at 09:00 ; Whooper Swan - 2 - still present to 15:30 at least
  • Linacre Res: Chiffchaff - 1 - first of the spring here, singing ; Wigeon - 1 - male on middle reservoir at 08:30 ; Tufted Duck - 47 ; Mallard - 49 ; Coot - 12 ; Moorhen - 10 ; Great Crested Grebe - 4 ; Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Cormorant - 1 ; Mandarin - 8

  • Millhouses: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 1f 1? ; Collared Dove - 1 - first for several years - used to be a daily visitor
  • Mount Darnall: Iceland Gull - 1 - 2nd winter on old Sheffield airport from 17:40 ; Iceland Gull - 1 - In at 17.40 then left towards town to roost at 18.00 ; Carrion Crow - 88 ; Lapwing - 17 - Lots of display and scraping.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Little Ringed Plover - 1 - first of year on small lake ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - On small lake briefly with Ringed Plover then flew north calling. ; Ringed Plover - 4 - 4: 1 small lake am. 1 Tip pm and 2 big lake pm ; Goldeneye - 14 ; Goosander - 22 - PM ; Wigeon - 30
  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Mute Swan - 85-90 - inc 24 2cy ; Whooper Swan - 1 - 2cy ; Canada Goose - 1pr ; Mallard - 8
  • Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Mistle Thrush - 1 - singing male ; Kestrel - 1 - m, hunting ; Magpie - 9 ; Herring Gull - 3 - N/NE ; Siskin - 5+ - several heard over in murk ; Redwing - 3 - NE
  • R Don, Aldwarke: Goosander - 6 - 1m; 3f on river; 1pr flew downriver ; Chiffchaff - 1 - singing male ; Long-tailed Tit - 2prs - one pair building with nest 50% complete ; Pheasant - 1 - cock ; Mallard - 5 - 2m; 3f ; Kingfisher - 2 - very vocal ; Moorhen - 1 ; Cormorant - 1 - imm ; Gadwall - 1pr
  • Ramsley Moor: Great Grey Shrike - 1 - moved from Greave's Piece to NW corner of Ramsley Moor (around SK 287764) mid-afternoon, sometimes visible from A621. Singing frequently. ; Reed Bunting - 1 - male keeping an eye on GG Shrike.
  • Redmires conduit: Wheatear - 1 - male ; Golden Plover - 180+ - at 17:30 ; Golden Plover - 598 - in rough field below conduit - photo of small group that circled briefly; my highest ever count here ; Lapwing - 40 - in rough fields - some display ; Meadow Pipit - 6 - apparently back on territory
