  • Barlow Common: Treecreeper - 1 ; Nuthatch - 1 ; Fieldfare - 6 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - 4 ; Coal Tit - 3 ; Goldfinch - 1
  • Brightholmlee: Little Owl - 1 - First time in this area for over a year
  • Brightside: Common Buzzard - 1 - low over late afternoon
  • Chatsworth Park: Whooper Swan - 29 - Single group calling and flying north in V-formation at 12.15.
  • Cinder Hills: Treecreeper - 1 ; Great Tit - 1 - singing ; Robin - 1+ - singing
  • Cowell Flat: Curlew - 2 - calling while flying overhead .
  • Crookes Valley Park: Moorhen - 6 ; Coot - 4 ; Black-headed Gull - 91 - on part frozen lake, some fully hooded ; Mallard - 16 ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Coot - 3 ; Moorhen - 2 ; Lapwing - 10+ - in adjacent ploughed field ; Black-headed Gull - 30+ - most in field with Lapwings ; Kestrel - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Nuthatch - 1 - calling
  • Ecclesall: Blackcap - 1 - male singing in garden on Ansell Road - certainly not a migrant!
  • Endcliffe Park: Dipper - 1 - close to Hunter's Bar at 07:35 ; Treecreeper - 1
  • Fulwood: Whooper Swan - 6 - low N over observer's house at 08:12
  • Gleadless Valley: Oystercatcher - 1 - flew high over to the west over Gleadless Valley/Cat Lane allotments calling frequently at 09.15
  • Green Moor: Raven - 1 - flew over calling heading NE
  • Grimesthorpe: Sparrowhawk - 2 - one displaying
  • Holling Dale: Curlew - 1 - flying over . ; Fieldfare - 2 - feeding in rough pasture .
  • Meersbrook Park: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Drumming ; Redwing - 7+ - Searching for food amongst leaf litter under trees
  • Millhouses: Whooper Swan - 30+ - flying North in v formation at 12:30
