  • Firsby Res: Willow Warbler - 6 - All singing. ; Blackcap - 2 - one singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 7 ; Great Tit - 2 - Pair feeding together., ; Bullfinch - 5 ; Swallow - 1 - Over E
  • Greenhill: Lesser Redpoll - 1 - at garden feeder
  • Harper Lees: Osprey - 1 - In low from north then perched for twenty minutes, then headed low to north being mobbed by four Buzzards.
  • Holmebrook Valley Park: Mute Swan - 3 - Pair on nest with at least 4 eggs. Last years cygnet still on lake ; Willow Warbler - 1 - Calling on east side of lake ; Swallow - 2 - Dropped in for 5min ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - Still displaying ; Reed Bunting - 2 - Male and female still at bottom end of lake looking in reeds for nesting site. ; Canada Goose - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 10+ - At least 10 around site calling. ; Song Thrush - 3+ - Calling round lake
  • Keppels Field: Kestrel - 1 - male,moved from tree by Mistle Thrush ; Skylark - 1 - sing ; Mistle Thrush - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 1 - sing ; Blue Tit - 1+ ; Reed Bunting - 1 - male ; Feral Pigeon - 4 - @ Column ; Jay - 1 ; Carrion Crow - 2+
  • Longshaw Lake: Mandarin - 7 - 4 Males and 3 females on lake or on the shore ; Tufted Duck - 4 - 2 males and 2 females in pairs
  • Middleton Moor: Little Gull - 2 - 1 adult summer plum. joined later by 2nd bird ; Golden Plover - 10 - flew over ; Little Gull - 2 - Full summer and partial summer bird ; Fieldfare - 3 ; Red-legged Partridge - 3
  • Orgreave Lakes: Barnacle Goose - 2 ; Wheatear - 1 ; Yellow Wagtail - 1 ; Fieldfare - 1 ; Sedge Warbler - 1 ; Little Gull - 4 - dropped on small lake at c08:30 included this cracking adult ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - Sang briefly from phag bed by main lake. Then fliting between sedge beds ; Little Gull - 4 ; Little Gull - 8 - 7 adults, 3 hooded (one nice and pink), and a second summer at 12:20 ; Little Gull - 6 - 6 adults (4 Small Lake, 2 Big Lake) ; Yellow Wagtail - 1 - east ; Barnacle Goose - 2 - 2 lost migrants (obviously on their way north) dropped in during fog. ; Golden Plover - 1 - calling in fog ; Curlew - 01-Feb - 2 sightings, both flying S. ; Ringed Plover - 1 - small lake ; Yellow Wagtail - 2 - both heading S ; Little Gull - 8 - photo of second summer bird. ; Little Gull - 8 - another photo. Birds headed SE towards Treeton Dyke just before heavy rain shower at about 14:10.

  • R Don, Aldwarke: Blackcap - 1 - singing ; Song Thrush - 2 - inc one singing ; Chiffchaff - 2 - inc one singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 1pr ; Mallard - 3 - 1pr + 1m ; Kestrel - 1 - over towards Dalton ; Gadwall - 1pr - flew downriver ; Kingfisher - 3 - 1pr + 1 chased off upriver

  • Rotherham; private site: Cetti's Warbler - 1 - singing male still present; now in fourth year with breeding not proven so far

  • Shepherd*s Plantation: Sparrowhawk - 1 - hunting ; Woodpigeon - 1+ ; Wren - 1+ - sing ; Robin - 3+ - 3+ sing and 1pr mating in Holly tree ; Blackcap - 1 - sing ; Chiffchaff - 1 - sing ; Long-tailed Tit - 2 - possible pair ; Coal Tit - 1 - sing ; Great Tit - 1 - sing ; Blue Tit - 1+ ; Magpie - 1+ ; Carrion Crow - 1
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Little Ringed Plover - 1 - on pool at southern end briefly 08.35
  • Stanage Edge, below: Ring Ouzel - 7 - 3 pairs within 7 birds between Hooks Carr Car Park and Hollin Bank, feeding below the edge and occasionally frequenting trees. Getting mobile by mid-morning.
  • Thrybergh CP: Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 ; Mute Swan - 39 ; Tufted Duck - 19 - 11m,8f ; Kestrel - 1 ; Pheasant - 4 - crow.
