  • Catcliffe Flash: Gadwall - 41 ; 320 - 6+ ; Shoveler - 4+ ; Pochard - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 10 ; Cormorant - 3 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Moorhen - 3+ ; Coot - 37 ; Black-headed Gull - 85 ; Herring Gull - 1 - 2-cy
  • Crookes Valley Park: Herring Gull - 4 - including adult previously reported as possible Caspian Gull - now seen with optics and photographed to confirm id ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - adult
  • Five Weirs Walk: Mandarin - 1 - Drake on R Don between Newhall Road & Hawke Street
  • Hillsborough Park: Tufted Duck - 8 - 5 males, 3 females. High count for this site ; Mute Swan - 3 - 2nd calendar years ; 322 - 1 - Muscovy Duck
  • Jordanthorpe: Barn Owl - 1
  • Kimberworth Park: Goose sp - 30+ - W,SW @ 11:05, skein splitting into two then rejoining
  • Meersbrook Park: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - drumming ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Starling - 16+
  • Millhouses Lane garden: Ring-necked Parakeet - 3 - visiting the bird feeders before flying off to a neighbouring tree
  • Norton Hammer: Dipper - 1 - One singing at dusk.
  • Norwood Allotments: Brambling - 80+ - Mobile flock appeared around 15:30 and then settled in tall trees along Herries Road near Burrows Drive. Dispersed by a sparrowhawk after about 20 minutes. Most seemed to head in the direction of Roe Wood.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Willow Tit - 2 - On feeders by river at southern end
  • Pit-house West: Woodcock - 1 - At dusk ; Reed Bunting - 54 - Roosting in reedbed at 'Bittern Pool'. ; Water Rail - 1 - Calling by Chinese Bridge ; Water Rail - 2 - Calling at Bittern Pool ; Woodcock - 1 - Over Bittern Pool ; Reed Bunting - 54 - Roosting in reedbed
  • R Don, Norfolk Bridge: Goosander - 2 - pair
  • Rotherham Centre: Pink-footed Goose - c120 - very low to NW @ 1045hrs
  • Roughwood School: Mistle Thrush - 1 - singing
  • Sharrow: Waxwing - 20 - at 15:00 ; Waxwing - 25+ - Cemetery Ave 11.00, chased off by Sparrowhawk ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Cemetery Ave, unsuccessful attempt to catch Waxwings. Ended up with a claw full of feathers! ; Redwing - 10+ - Cemetery Ave ; Mistle Thrush - 2 - Cemetery Ave

  • Button Hill: Redwing - 6 - High in tree in garden then flying down to feed on berries on lower shrub
  • Ecclesall Woods (Wood 2)/Abbeydale: Stock Dove - 2 - display flight SW corner of wood/over Abbey Crescent
  • Ecclesall Woods (Wood 3): Treecreeper - 2+ - several including at least 2 singing ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2+ - several including 2 drumming ; Siskin - c.5 - small flock over Donkey Fields ; 327 - 1+ - heard Donkey Fields ; Stock Dove - 2 - 1 heronry, 1 over playing fields
  • Harthill Res: Kingfisher - 1 ; Siskin - 1 - in tit flock ; Coal Tit - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Fieldfare - 60+ - adjacent field, with Starlings ; Starling - 60+ ; Bullfinch - 3 - 2m 1f ; Long-tailed Tit - 18+ - , 8,8,2 ; Goldfinch - 20+ ; Shoveler - 3 - 2m ; Gadwall - 14 ; Cormorant - 1 - arrived ; Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 18 ; Mute Swan - 2 - adults ; Moorhen - 10
